In my opinion I think this quote by Virgil means That if you are not sure what you are doing or what you should do, you might want to look for someone who has done it before. So you can follow them or adapt from them for your future.
Publius Vergilius Maro, usually called Virgil or Vergil in English, was an ancient Roman poet of the Augustan period. He is know for three major works of Latin literature. Virgil is traditionally ranked as one of Rome's greatest poets. His Aeneid has been considered the national epic of ancient Rome from the time of its composition to the present day.
This is significant to one side of my theme. It is saying that if you are not sure who you want to trust you can start with trusting someone who has done it.
